Energy Diamond and NBEPar participate in Nuclear Legacy

Ney Zanella (CEO NBEPar), Pedro Litsek (CEO Energy Diamond), Jorge Nemr (Chairman of the Board of Directors of Diamante Energia); Julio Lopes (federal deputy), Bento Albuquerque (chairman of the Board of Directors of NBEPar), Marisete Dadald Pereira and Pedro Kassab (vice-president of the Board of Directors of Diamante Energia).

NBEPar and the Diamante Energia Group participated in Nuclear Legacy 2025, the main forum for strategic debates on the role of nuclear energy in the future of the Brazilian energy matrix. Organized by the Brazilian Association for the Development of Nuclear Activities (Abdan), the event brought together more than 150 government representatives, business leaders, military, researchers and students, with an agenda focused on governance, innovation and legal certainty.

The event awarded three projects presented at Hackapower 2025, the university innovation Olympiad, promoted by ABDAN, applicable in energy generation, sustainability and food preservation. One of the proposals highlighted the use of modular microreactors in offshore platforms, a technology that is being developed by the Diamond Group, through its company Terminus, in partnership with universities, companies and research institutes in the sector.

Panels have summarized the main challenges of governance and technological integration of the sector and the role of nuclear energy in the sustainable transformation of the energy matrix, especially in the face of the need for emission reduction and complementarity with renewable sources. Topics such as public policies, funding and non-energy applications of nuclear, focusing on food irradiation, nuclear medicine and health security, were also discussed.

The event honored, among other people, former President José Sarney, in whose government the first nuclear reactor at the Angra 1 Plant came into operation.
